Born in Calgary, Alberta Cindy's fascination with studying and painting animals began as a young child and remains her greatest passion to this day. She captured her first artistic award at age eight and boasts numerous impressive acclamations including Ducks Unlimited 2007 Artist Of The Year and Guide Outfitters Association of B.C Artist of the Year in 2006.

Her works have been published in various magazines and journals including Birds and Blooms, Noah's Ark, East Kootenay Magazine, and many others. Cindy has the unique ability to capture the living essence of her subject matters, exuding a sense of spirit and soul in every painting.

Each creation is much more than simply a’ lifelike’ rendering; her creations practically breathe. Of particular note is her ability to capture life and emotion in the subject’s eyes. As Cindy says, “Through an animal’s eyes, one can see its soul.”

Every Weitzel creation is ‘living’ proof of that philosophy. Aside from her obvious talent, knowledge of wildlife, and personality, Cindy is in an elite league with her diversity in choice of art mediums. Weitzel not only utilizes standard mediums of canvas and wood, but takes her creativity to another level by regularly producing paintings on feathers.
